Project management case study
⛰️ Challenge:
SINFINESPR.org is a digital tool built to fuel transparency and sustainable development within Puerto Rico’s government, philanthropic and nonprofit sectors.
The website features:
- A data platform that reunites 1,200+ trusted Puerto Rican nonprofit organizations
- Access NPOs profiles with critical financial and compliance information centralized in one place.
- Links to make direct donations to organizations
- Advanced filters and search features to allow for sector research

💡 **The platform was launched in 2020 by Titín Foundation with the main goal of strengthening of Puerto Rico’s third sector by helping NGO’s access a more diverse pool of funds.
As of 2021, the platform had challenges with user adoption specifically with 2 features:**

**(1) Front-end user adoption of profile actualizations:
→ To create & maintain organizations’s profiles, the internal data team was mainly focused researching and centralizing publicly available data of verified organizations.**
This process represents the following challenges:
- The data does not represent a full operational picture of the organization.
- The maintenance process was burdensome and resource-heavy, focusing 40% of the data entry team’s work on profile’s research and data actualizations vs. just validating the user generated data.
**(2) Lack of impact insight for Donation payment channels:
→ T**here was no automated process to track payments made through the platform to organizations.
This made it very hard for Titín Foundation/ SINFINES to track the user adoption and impact made to organizations through the platform.
The combined effect of these 2 challenges resulted in less access to unrestricted funds for NGO organizations in Puerto Rico.
💡 Action :
To tackle these platform challenges, two actionable work streams were defined:
